Is psoriasis hereditary from grandparents?

My grandmother has psoriasis, and now I'm seeing some small dry patches on my scalp. My parents don't have it, so I'm wondering if it can skip a generation. Is psoriasis hereditary from grandparents, even if parents don't have it?

My grandmother had severe skin scaling, and I just noticed a dry patch on my elbow. Could this actually be hereditary from her, or am I just overthinking this?

It can certainly skip a generation and come from grandparents. I ignored my early joint pains thinking it was normal, but it turned into psoriatic arthritis. Please get it diagnosed by a rheumatologist or dermatologist early to avoid complications.

My grandfather had it and now I have been diagnosed too. It makes me feel so anxious about my future kids inheriting it. Has anyone else struggled with this constant worry?

Yes, it can pass down from grandparents, as it did in our family. But look at me, I have lived a full, happy life with it for forty years. Don't worry, with today's medical advances, it is very manageable.

It is genetically possible, but don't jump to conclusions just by looking at old family photos. Go to a qualified dermatologist for a proper clinical checkup rather than diagnosing yourself based on family history.

Yes, genes can definitely jump a generation! But don't stress about it too much. With the right moisturizer and a happy lifestyle, your skin can stay clear and healthy.
