Is psoriasis a fungus?

I've been dealing with persistent skin issues, and my doctor mentioned psoriasis as a possibility. Someone else told me it's just a fungus. I'm trying to figure out what it actually is. Is psoriasis a fungus, or is that a common misconception?

No, it is definitely not a fungus. I have had psoriasis for ten years and anti-fungal creams won't do anything for it. Keep your skin well-moisturized with a good paraffin-based cream and avoid scratching.

Psoriasis is autoimmune, not fungal. Just like I have to get regular thyroid tests done to manage my condition, you should get a proper diagnosis and follow up regularly with a good dermatologist.

It is not a fungus at all, but an inflammatory condition. Cutting down on gluten and heavy dairy helped reduce my skin irritation. A clean diet really supports your skin healing from within.

Just to clear the air, psoriasis isn't a fungal infection. It's an autoimmune issue where skin cells multiply too quickly. Anti-fungal powders will only dry it out more, so please get a proper clinical opinion.

Psoriasis is an autoimmune condition, not a fungus. Since I manage diabetes, I know how critical it is to get correct diagnoses because wrong treatments can affect your overall health. Always check with a specialist.

It is not a fungal infection, but a reflection of internal toxins and stress. Practicing daily pranayama helped soothe my nervous system and reduced my skin flares. Be gentle with your body.

Psoriasis is actually an inflammatory, autoimmune skin condition and not a fungal issue. Because the treatments are vastly different, getting a dermatologist's professional advice is the best way forward.

If it were just a fungus, we could have chased it away by now! Sadly, it's psoriasis, which is autoimmune. My skin flares up whenever I skip sleep, which is basically every night lately.

We consulted a senior dermatologist at Apollo and she clearly explained that psoriasis is autoimmune, not fungal. Please don't self-medicate with over-the-counter creams; let a proper doctor guide you.

Don't fall for home remedies claiming to cure 'skin fungus' if you have psoriasis. It is an autoimmune condition and needs targeted medical treatment. Go to a certified dermatologist and get it checked.

Oh, I always thought any itchy red patch was fungal. If psoriasis is not a fungus, does that mean regular ringworm creams won't work on it? I'm just trying to learn more.

No, it's not a fungus, though I wish it was that simple to get rid of! Psoriasis is just your immune system working overtime for no reason. Getting old means finding new ways your body can confuse you.
