Is prostate cancer deadly?

My neighbour was diagnosed with prostate cancer, and everyone in the family seems very upset. I want to understand the severity of this. Is prostate cancer a deadly disease?

Honestly, even I am very scared about this. My uncle was recently asked to get a biopsy done and we are all panicking. Has anyone else gone through this scare where the doctor suspected it but it turned out fine?

I was also terrified that it’s a death sentence when my dad’s PSA levels came back high. But actually, most prostate cancers grow so slowly that men live for decades without major issues. Once we met the urologist, all our panic settled down.

Look, it depends entirely on the stage and grade, so don't read random scary stuff online. Go to a good hospital, talk to a proper oncologist, and ask them all your questions directly. They will give you the most accurate picture.

Listen boss, don't lose your mind over Google search results. It is only dangerous if you sit on the symptoms for years and do nothing. Go get a doctor's opinion, do the blood test, and clear the doubt once and for all.

It is not deadly for the vast majority of people if caught timely. My advice from personal experience is to get annual PSA tests once you cross 50. Catching it early makes the treatment very manageable and normal.

Hey, my grandfather had this a couple of years back. Honestly, we were super stressed but the docs told us it's one of the least aggressive cancers out there. He had minor treatment and is totally chilling now.

I work in healthcare and see many such cases. It has a very high survival rate compared to other cancers because it progresses very slowly. Just make sure to consult a urologist and don't skip the prescribed routine checks.
