Is prednisone hard on the liver?

My father is on prednisone for a long-term condition. We are worried about its long-term effects. Is prednisone considered hard on the liver, and what precautions should we take?

Steroids like prednisone are usually processed by the liver, so long term use can be quite heavy on your system. It is best to drink plenty of warm water and eat light, home-cooked food to keep your digestion clean. But if you feel yellow eyes or severe stomach pain, immediately go to a doctor.

Haan na, any strong steroid can affect the liver if taken for too long without monitoring. My doctor had prescribed it for my skin allergy and told me to get liver tests done after a month. Better to be careful and not take it casually, ho na.

When I was on prednisone, my hunger levels went crazy and I just wanted to eat oily kulchas all day! But my doc said to keep the diet clean because the liver is already working extra hard to process the steroid. So try to avoid heavy fried stuff while you are on this med.

Beta, any strong English tablet has some effect on your internal organs, especially the liver and stomach. You should drink fresh buttermilk and eat simple khichdi to keep your stomach cool. Always consult your family doctor before starting or stopping such heavy medicines.

I took prednisone for two weeks after a bad allergic reaction. My doc told me it's generally fine for short periods, but high doses for months can definitely stress your liver. Don't worry too much if it's a short course, but don't self-medicate.
