Is potato salad good for diabetics?

My husband has diabetes, and we are planning a family picnic where potato salad is usually a favourite. I'm trying to prepare dishes that he can also enjoy. Is potato salad generally considered safe or good for diabetics, or should I make an alternative?

I know how stressful it is to stare at a plate and wonder if it will spike your sugar level. Potato salad usually contains high carbs and mayonnaise, which can cause sudden spikes. It is completely okay to feel anxious, but maybe skip this dish to stay on the safer side.

Potato salad is a bit risky for diabetics, yaar. Actually, potatoes have a high glycemic index, and if you mix them with heavy cream or mayo, it is not good at all. Better to try cucumber or chana salad instead.

Probably not the best option if you are watching your sugar! Potatoes tend to raise blood glucose levels quickly. You can try a sweet potato salad in very small portions as a fun alternative sometimes.

I noticed my sugar levels were extremely high the morning after eating a small portion of cold potato salad. Has anyone else felt incredibly sluggish and noticed a spike after eating cold potatoes? I am really worried about what to eat now.

I tried making various low-carb versions for my diabetic husband, but potato salad always caused a rise in his morning readings. Even if we boil and cool the potatoes, the starch is still quite high. It is much safer to stick to sprouted moong or peanut salads.

Haan na, managing diabetes is so difficult when you love potatoes. Potato salad usually has too much starch and fat, which is not good for sugar levels. Better to avoid it completely and keep your diet simple.

My son loves potatoes, but we have to be very careful with his type 1 diabetes readings. Potato salad is usually a no-go for us because of the carb load. If we do make it, it is a very tiny portion alongside lots of green leafy vegetables to slow down absorption.

I used to eat whatever I wanted, including creamy salads, thinking a little bit wouldn't hurt my mild diabetes. I regretted it deeply when my HbA1c shot up to 10. Please get your fasting levels checked and consult your doctor before eating high-carb salads.

I am quite new to managing diabetes for my mother. Is potato salad okay if we use olive oil instead of mayonnaise, or is the potato itself the main problem for blood sugar?

It is best to be careful with potato salads if you have diabetes. They tend to raise sugar levels quite fast for most people. Wishing you good health and a steady recovery.
