Is phantom pain real in vrchat?

I play a lot of VR games with my friends, especially VRChat, and sometimes I feel weird sensations like I'm touching things that aren't there. My friend said it's like phantom pain. Is phantom pain a real thing that can happen even in a virtual reality setting like VRChat?

Phantom pain is a real medical condition experienced by amputees. What you might feel in VRchat is perceptual or haptic feedback, a simulation, not true phantom pain in the clinical sense. Don't confuse the two, it trivializes a serious issue. If you're experiencing pain, medical advice is the only way.

In VRchat, it's usually sensory feedback or your brain interpreting what it sees. Not the same as clinical phantom pain.

Beta, if you are playing games in VR, it might feel real to you, no? Like when we watch a scary movie and get scared. But real pain in a missing part, that is different. This game pain is not like that, it's from the game only.

I play VRchat a lot, and sometimes when you get really immersed, or if there's haptic feedback, it can *feel* like you're experiencing something. But it's not the actual medical phantom pain that amputees feel. It's more like your brain being tricked by the virtual reality, which is cool but not clinical.

Nah man, that's not real phantom pain. That's just your brain being super immersed in the VR environment. Like, if you get hit in the game, you might *feel* it because of the haptics or just your mind playing tricks. Real phantom pain is a serious medical condition for amputees, not something from a game.

Haha, if VRchat gave you real phantom pain, we'd all be needing doctors after a gaming session! What you're probably feeling is just your brain really getting into the game and interpreting sensations based on what you're seeing. It's more like a really intense immersion, not actual medical phantom pain.
