Is pepper bad for your liver?
My father has some liver issues, and he loves spicy food. His doctor advised him to cut down on very spicy things. Now I'm wondering, is eating a lot of pepper bad for your liver?

Hey, don't stress too much about pepper! Generally, black pepper, in normal amounts, is actually considered good for digestion and even has some antioxidants. Unless you're eating a whole spoonful every meal or have a specific liver condition, it's highly unlikely to be bad for your liver. Enjoy your food!
I totally get why you'd be asking this, sometimes everything we eat seems to come with a warning! But from what I understand, normal amounts of pepper in your food are actually beneficial, not harmful to the liver. Spices in Indian cooking are usually fine. If you have a specific health concern though, that's different.
Arre, in India, we use pepper in almost everything! If it was bad for the liver, most of us would have issues by now. Normal use is absolutely fine, even good for you. Don't worry about regular spices. If you're eating tons of it raw, maybe, but who does that?
While pepper in general cooking is not a concern, if you have any existing liver condition or are consuming it in very large, unconventional amounts, then it would be prudent to consult with a doctor or a nutritionist. For normal dietary intake, it's generally fine, but always confirm if you have health issues.
Beta, we have been using pepper in our food for generations, and it has always been known for its medicinal properties, helping with digestion and colds. In normal quantities, it has never caused liver problems for anyone I know. Just don't go eating it by the handful!
