Is peanuts good for thyroid?

I have a thyroid problem and am very conscious about what I eat. Some people say peanuts are good, others say bad. Can someone clarify if peanuts are good for thyroid health?

Just like with diabetes, diet plays a big role in managing thyroid issues. Peanuts contain goitrogens, which in large amounts, can potentially interfere with thyroid function, especially if you have an iodine deficiency. So, it's generally advised to consume them in moderation, especially if you have hypothyroidism. Always best to ask your endocrinologist.

My endocrinologist specifically discussed nuts when I was diagnosed with thyroid issues. She said peanuts, like other cruciferous vegetables, contain goitrogens. While cooking usually inactivates them, consuming very large quantities regularly might be a concern for some, especially if you're not getting enough iodine. A handful now and then is usually fine, but it's not a 'thyroid superfood'.

In our yogic practices, we believe in mindful eating for balance. Peanuts, in their natural form, offer good energy and can be part of a wholesome diet. For thyroid health, it is said that certain foods might impact it. So, consuming peanuts in moderation and observing how your body feels is important. Always consult a health expert for specific medical conditions.

From a general health and fitness perspective, peanuts provide good energy, protein, and healthy fats. For thyroid, I've heard some conflicting info about goitrogens. So, if you have a thyroid condition, it's always best to check with your doctor or dietitian. I focus on balanced macros and staying active, but for specific conditions, expert advice is key.

Sleep-deprived me is always looking for easy snacks! Peanuts are filling, but for thyroid? Honestly, I don't know if they're particularly 'good'. I just eat them because they're quick protein. But if your thyroid is acting up, probably ask a doctor, because I'm just here trying to stay awake, not giving medical advice, haha!

Generally, peanuts are a good source of protein and healthy fats. However, for thyroid patients, especially those with hypothyroidism, there's a debate about goitrogens in peanuts possibly interfering with iodine uptake. Most experts agree that moderate consumption isn't harmful, but excessive intake, particularly with an iodine deficiency, could be a concern. Consult your endocrinologist for clarity.

I'm just starting to learn about thyroid health. So, peanuts are not directly 'bad' then, but maybe not super helpful either? And what are goitrogens? Does it mean I shouldn't eat other nuts too? It's all a bit confusing for me.
