Is peanut butter and jelly good for diabetics?

My doctor recently diagnosed me with type 2 diabetes. My grandkids love peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, and sometimes I'm tempted to have one. But I'm unsure if it's safe for me. Is peanut butter and jelly good for diabetics?

Beta, with diabetes, you have to be very careful with sugar. Jelly (or jam) is mostly sugar, so that's generally a no-no. Peanut butter can be okay in small amounts if it's natural and unsweetened, but combined with sugary jelly, it's not ideal. I learned this the hard way years ago.

Peanut butter itself, if natural and unsweetened, can be good due to its protein and healthy fats, which help manage blood sugar. However, jelly is usually packed with sugar, which can cause spikes for diabetics. So, a traditional PB&J is not recommended. Maybe try sugar-free jam or just plain peanut butter.

This is a tricky one. The peanut butter part, if unsweetened, might be okay in very small amounts. But jelly is almost always full of sugar, which is very bad for diabetics. It's always best to check with your doctor or a dietician who knows your specific condition before trying new foods.

From my personal experience, I'd say no to the typical PB&J if you have diabetes. The sugar content in jelly is usually very high, which is exactly what diabetics need to avoid. Natural peanut butter alone, in very small portions, might be different, but not with jelly.

For diabetics and even those with high BP like me, sugar and processed foods are not good. Jelly is full of sugar. While good quality peanut butter has healthy fats, the combination is probably too much. Better to stick to simple, low-sugar options and always have regular checkups.

Having dealt with thyroid issues, I know how sensitive diet can be. For diabetics, especially, anything with high sugar like jelly is generally off-limits as it can severely affect blood sugar levels. Peanut butter can be fine, but always ensure it's natural and check with your endocrinologist. Regular tests are a must!

I was researching this for a project, and from what I read, jelly is usually a big no-no for diabetics because of the high sugar. Peanut butter can be okay in moderation if it's natural and no sugar added. So, basically, avoid the 'J' part!
