Is pcos autoimmune?

My sister has an autoimmune condition, and I recently heard someone mention that PCOS could also be autoimmune. Is there a connection, or is that just a misconception? I'm trying to figure out if I should be checking for other autoimmune issues.

Na, not exactly autoimmune, haan. My doctor told me it's more of a hormonal disorder, even though some research connects it to inflammation. But it's not like your body is attacking itself in the way autoimmune diseases work.

PCOS is a complex condition, not generally classified as autoimmune. Focus on holistic well-being, listen to your body, and maintain a positive spirit. Taking care of your health with good food and peace of mind is very important.

I've looked this up quite a bit! While there are discussions about inflammation and immune system links, PCOS isn't officially categorized as an autoimmune disease. It's a key distinction.

Nah, from what I've heard my friends discussing, PCOS is mostly a hormonal imbalance thing, not autoimmune. Like, your body isn't attacking itself. It's more about how your hormones are messed up.

No, it's not considered an autoimmune disease. It's a hormonal disorder. I've had PCOS for years, and while it's tricky, understanding it's about hormones and insulin resistance helps in managing it better with diet and exercise.

No, it's not autoimmune. My cousin got tested for everything under the sun, and the doctor said PCOS is hormonal. All those extra tests for autoimmune conditions are expensive, so best to clarify with your doctor first if it's even needed.

PCOS is not an autoimmune disease. It's distinct from conditions like Type 1 diabetes, which is autoimmune. PCOS is more about insulin resistance and hormonal disruptions. For me, managing blood sugar has been key for both my diabetes and understanding my wife's PCOS.

I totally thought it was autoimmune at first and freaked out, but my doctor confirmed it's not. It's more about hormonal imbalances and how your body handles insulin. So don't worry, it's manageable, just needs proper care.

Goodness, no, if PCOS was autoimmune, my body would be attacking itself in more ways than it already feels like it is! It's enough of a hormonal rollercoaster as is. It's a complex hormonal issue, let's keep it at that, for my sanity.

It's totally normal to wonder if it's autoimmune, especially with all the complex symptoms. But from what I've learned, it's primarily a hormonal and metabolic disorder, not autoimmune. Don't let the uncertainty make you anxious, talk to a good doctor.
