Is pcos an autoimmune disease?

I've been reading a lot about PCOS online, and some articles suggest it might be an autoimmune disease. Is there any truth to this? My doctor hasn't mentioned it, so I'm a bit confused.

I checked some health articles and even a few medical databases through my fitness app. PCOS is generally considered an endocrine disorder, though there's ongoing research into its inflammatory and immune system aspects. Not strictly autoimmune yet.

My aunt told me it's just hormonal, but my doctor clearly explained that while there are studies linking it to immune system dysregulation, it's not officially classified as an autoimmune disease like lupus or rheumatoid arthritis. Always best to trust the doctor, no?

I have thyroid issues which is autoimmune, and my doctor explained that PCOS is different. While both are endocrine, PCOS itself is not an autoimmune disease. Regular tests and proper follow-up with your specialist are crucial for any such condition.

From what I understand, it's not classified as autoimmune. It's a hormonal disorder that often involves insulin resistance. Best to focus on managing symptoms with your doctor's plan, rather than getting caught up in classifications.

Initially, I panicked and thought it might be something really serious like autoimmune. But my doctor reassured me it's not. It's more of a hormonal imbalance condition. Don't let yourself get scared by things you read online without talking to your doctor.

Based on my understanding from health research, PCOS isn't typically categorized as an autoimmune condition. It's more about hormonal imbalance. So, fitness and diet play a key role in managing it, more than anything else.

I've tried so many things for my PCOS, and no one ever told me it was autoimmune. It's mostly about hormones and lifestyle. Focus on diet and exercise, and definitely keep seeing your gynae, that's what has worked for me.

Not exactly an autoimmune disease. It's more complex, primarily hormonal. Consult a doctor for proper diagnosis.
