Is pain after a workout good?

I've just started going to the gym, and after every workout, my muscles ache quite a bit. My trainer says it's a good sign, but it's really uncomfortable. Is pain after a workout actually good?

I always get worried if the pain is too much after a workout. Is it normal to feel really sore for days? Or am I overdoing it? Does anyone else feel like they can barely move sometimes after a leg day?

Good pain (DOMS - Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness) means your muscles are adapting and growing stronger, and it usually starts a day or two later. Sharp, sudden pain *during* a workout, or pain that lasts too long or limits movement, is a bad sign and you should rest. Listen to your body, always.

My fitness tracker has a recovery score, and if I'm too sore, it tells me to take it easy. Mild muscle soreness (DOMS) after a new routine or intensity is normal and a sign of growth. But sharp, persistent, or joint pain is bad; that means potential injury, so track it and rest or see a physio.

A little muscle soreness means your body is working and getting stronger. But severe pain is not good. Always be kind to your body and rest when needed.

Oh, I totally get this confusion! That satisfying sore feeling where you know you worked hard? That's usually good. But if it's a piercing, joint-related pain, or something that makes you limp, then that's your body yelling 'STOP!' and you should definitely listen.

Beta, if you work hard, a little ache means your body is getting strong, like a farmer's body after a day in the field. But if it's too much, or sharp like a needle, then it's not good. You must rest that part of your body. Listen to your body, it tells you everything.

Gentle soreness, like a muscle stretch, can be a sign of growth. It shows the body is responding. But sharp, stinging pain is a warning. Listen to the body's wisdom. Give it gentle movement, proper rest, and nourishing food to recover.
