Is olive oil good for dandruff?

I've been dealing with terrible dandruff for months now, and nothing seems to work. Someone mentioned that olive oil might help. Is olive oil good for dandruff?

Actually, olive oil can make dandruff worse because the yeast that causes it feeds on lipids. Better to avoid it.

Haan na, everyone thinks oiling is good for dandruff, but it actually clogs the scalp more. Olive oil is too heavy. It is better to use an anti-dandruff shampoo containing ketoconazole instead.

If it is just mild dry scalp, a light warm olive oil massage with a few drops of lemon can help. But if you have sticky, itchy yellow crusts, it could be seborrheic dermatitis. In that case, home remedies won't work and you must see a dermatologist.

In my experience, olive oil was too thick and difficult to wash off, which made my itching worse. Try tea tree oil mixed with a lighter carrier oil instead.

In our days, we only used pure coconut oil or neem oil for scalp health. Olive oil is very heavy for our Indian climate and can trap dust on the scalp. Stick to simple neem leaves boiled in water to wash your hair.
