Is okra good for diabetes?

My in-laws are visiting, and my mother-in-law is a big fan of okra, but my father-in-law has diabetes. He's asking if okra is good for diabetes or if he should avoid it.

Okra or bhindi is quite rich in dietary fiber, which generally helps in stabilizing blood sugar levels. However, it should only be a supportive part of your diet. Never replace your prescribed diabetes medications without consulting your endocrinologist.

Actually bhindi is very budget-friendly and great for health. We make it at home with very little oil and mild spices. It fills you up nicely so you don't crave heavy roti or rice, which helps manage sugar naturally.

People talk a lot about okra water and home remedies, but diabetes can be tricky. Please get your fasting and HbA1c checked regularly at a lab first. Do what the doctor recommends rather than relying only on kitchen remedies.

Humare yahan toh sab kehte hain bhindi sugar ke liye bahut badiya hai. Isme jo chipchipapan hota hai woh shareer ke liye accha hota hai. Aap isko apni sabzi mein zaroor shamil karein, bahut fayda milega.

Yes, bhindi is very healthy and safe to eat if you have diabetes. It is light on the stomach too. Take care and don't stress too much about small diet changes.

I have been managing type 2 diabetes for ten years now. Including bhindi in my lunch twice a week really keeps my post-meal spikes under control. Just don't deep-fry it, cook it gently to keep the nutrients intact.
