Is oat milk good for cholesterol and diabetes?

Both my husband and I have high cholesterol, and he also has type 2 diabetes. We are looking for healthier milk alternatives. Is oat milk good for cholesterol and diabetes, or should we stick to regular milk?

Please don't rely on trend foods to manage these conditions. I ignored my rising cholesterol thinking diet switches alone would save me, and ended up with a blocked artery. Go to a cardiologist and get proper blood tests done first.

I have been dealing with both high cholesterol and diabetes for five years. While oats are great, oat milk actually spikes blood sugar fast because the fiber is mostly lost during processing. I would recommend sticking to whole oats and avoiding oat milk.

I had severe diabetic neuropathy because I tried to self-manage my sugars with plant milks. Oat milk can have a surprisingly high glycemic index. Please consult a qualified doctor before replacing your regular dairy or making major diet changes.

My mom has diabetes and high cholesterol, and we looked into this recently. Oat milk has some beta-glucans which are good for cholesterol, but it's high in carbs for diabetes. We decided to stick to almond milk for her instead as it's much safer.

I track my glucose with a continuous monitor and noticed oat milk gives me a massive sugar spike. For cholesterol, whole oats are great, but the liquid milk version lacks the fiber benefits. Better to track your food and consult your doctor.
