I suffer from really bad migraines, and I've heard that some people are sensitive to MSG. My sister recently started using nutritional yeast in her cooking, and I'm wondering if that could be a trigger for me. Is nutritional yeast msg migraine causing?

It can definitely cause a flare-up if you are sensitive to MSG-like compounds. Whenever my head hurts from food triggers, I drink lukewarm ginger tea and apply a cold compress to my neck. Try avoiding nutritional yeast for two weeks to see if your migraines reduce.

My college-going daughter gets severe migraines and we noticed she got a bad episode after eating vegan mac and cheese made with nutritional yeast. The natural glutamates in it can definitely trigger sensitive heads. We completely stopped it and she is much better now.

My grandmother always says that our traditional foods are best for sensitive bodies, but I also consulted our family physician. He explained that nutritional yeast has high free glutamic acid which acts just like MSG. It is safer to avoid it if you have chronic migraine issues.

Yes, unfortunately it can trigger a headache! It has those natural glutamates that mimic MSG. If you love that cheesy taste, maybe try a tiny bit next time or just stick to safe options like mild spices.

Hey, I had the same issue last year when I tried going dairy-free. I got a splitting headache every time I used nutritional yeast on my food. It took me a while to realize the connection, but yes, it can trigger migraines because of its natural glutamate content.

Many people in our health groups have reported migraines after consuming nutritional yeast. It's because of the naturally occurring glutamic acid during processing. My advice is to stop using it immediately and focus on whole foods, and do keep a diary of your meals.
