Is numbness a sign of stroke?

My neighbour recently had a stroke, and he mentioned having numbness before it happened. I sometimes get numbness in my fingers, especially if I sleep in a weird position. Is numbness a sign of stroke, or is it usually something less serious?

When my grandfather had a stroke, it started with a sudden numbness on the left side of his face and arm, and he couldn't hold his tea cup. We didn't wait and took him to the emergency room immediately, which saved his life.

Yes, sudden numbness, especially on one side of the face or body, is a major warning sign of a stroke. Remember the FAST rule: Face drooping, Arm weakness, Speech difficulty, and Time to call emergency services. Please go to a hospital right away.

Normally my leg goes numb because I sleep in weird positions, but sudden numbness on one side of your body is a serious medical emergency. If you are experiencing that, put down your phone and head straight to the hospital right now.

Haan beta, agar achanak se sharir ke ek taraf sunnpan aa jaye, toh yeh dimaag ki bimari (stroke) ka ishara ho sakta hai. Isme bilkul deri nahi karni chahiye, turant bade doctor ke paas jao.

While we joke about our limbs falling asleep, a sudden one-sided body numbness is no laughing matter and is indeed a key sign of a stroke. Don't try to sleep it off; get to a doctor immediately!
