Is np thyroid the same as armour thyroid?

My friend and I both have thyroid conditions, but she takes Armour Thyroid, and I take NP Thyroid. We were discussing if they are basically the same medication or if there are significant differences between them. Are they interchangeable?

They are very similar because both are natural desiccated thyroid (NDT) made from pig thyroid glands. However, they use different inactive ingredients or binders, which can slightly affect how your body absorbs them.

They are basically cousins from the same family tree! Both come from porcine sources, but because of the different fillers, your body might treat them like two completely different guests.

I tried switching from Armour to NP Thyroid last year when there was a shortage. They do the same job, but I had to get my blood levels checked again because the absorption felt a bit different.

My family elders often say any natural thyroid is fine, but my physician explained that NP and Armour have minor differences in their formulation. It is always wise to follow the exact brand your doctor trusts.

They are both natural desiccated thyroid drugs but are made by different manufacturers with slightly different binders.

I had a terrible experience with heart palpitations when I tried to switch between them without checking my dosages. Please do not assume they are identical; always consult your endocrinologist before making any changes.

My local pharmacy only has NP Thyroid but my prescription says Armour. Is it really safe to just take the switch, or should I be worried about side effects?

Managing PCOS and thyroid together is tricky, and even small changes in inactive ingredients can affect our sensitive hormone levels. They are similar, but it's best to be careful and confirm with your doctor first.
