Is niacinamide good for eczema?

My younger sister has had eczema since childhood and it really bothers her. We were reading online about niacinamide and its benefits for skin, so wanted to know if it's actually good for eczema.

I use a skin-tracking app to monitor my dry skin patches, and adding a 5% niacinamide moisturizer consistently helped reduce redness. The app data showed my skin barrier hydration score improved after three weeks. Just make sure to avoid very high percentages like 10%, which can sometimes irritate eczema.

Haan na, eczema triggers are so weird, thoda touch kiya toh skin red ho jaati hai. I used a niacinamide moisturizer and it felt quite soothing on dry areas. But everyone's skin is different, so start with a small patch test first on your hand, ho na.

Be very careful, please. I tried a popular over-the-counter niacinamide serum on my active eczema flare-up, and it gave me a severe contact dermatitis reaction that required steroid creams to heal. Do not self-treat active rashes; show it to a proper dermatologist first.

Instead of spending 1000 rupees on fancy dermatologist visits and expensive serum bottles, you can find very budget-friendly pharma creams with niacinamide at your local chemist. Just ask for a basic moisturizer containing it. It does the same job without burning a hole in your pocket.

I have been researching this on Reddit and YouTube lately because my hands get super dry and itchy. Most dermatologists online seem to recommend niacinamide because it helps build the ceramide barrier, but they always suggest doing a patch test first. Let me know if you try it and how it works!

Honestly, I tried aloe vera, coconut oil, and everything else for my dry eczema patches with very little relief. When I switched to a basic cream containing niacinamide, it actually helped soothe the constant itching and burning. It is definitely worth trying, but look for fragrance-free options.
