Is news bad for your mental health?

Lately, I've noticed that after reading the news or watching current events, I feel very anxious and down. My husband says I should just stop reading the news. Can constantly consuming news actually be bad for your mental health?

Yes, media consumption can severely impact your anxiety levels and sleep quality. If you find yourself constantly feeling down, stressed, or having panic attacks because of the news, please consult a therapist or counselor. Mental health should always be checked and prioritized.

Actually yaar, constant negative news can really give you crazy anxiety. I used to keep my TV on all day and it made me feel so restless and stressed. Now I have strictly limited my news time to just ten minutes in the morning, and it has helped my peace of mind so much.

I have been feeling really overwhelmed and sad lately after reading social media news updates. Is there any gentle way to stay informed without getting so anxious? I would love to know how others manage to keep their screen time low.

With our busy work schedules, we don't need extra stress from sensational news channels. I uninstalled all news apps and only read a weekly summary newsletter to stay updated. It saves a lot of time and keeps my mental productivity high during office hours.

I used to panic during the pandemic because of constant death updates on TV and thought I was losing my mind. But once I turned off the notifications, my anxiety vanished and I realized it was a very normal reaction to information overload. Don't worry, just take a digital detox for a few days.

Haan bhai, aaj kal news mein sirf jhagda aur dukh dikhate hain, jo dimaag ko bohot thaka deta hai. I stopped watching the evening debates completely. Instead, I spend that evening time talking to my family and taking a walk in our local park, which feels much better.

I recently went through a phase of severe anxiety and my therapist first asked me to stop scrolling through negative news. It was hard initially, but replacing news apps with light audiobooks made a huge difference. My mind feels so much lighter and calmer now.
