Is neuropathic pain?

I've been having this strange burning and tingling sensation in my hands and feet for a few months now, especially at night. My doctor mentioned it could be 'neuropathic pain', but didn't explain much. What exactly is neuropathic pain, and why does it feel like this?

My neurologist explained that neuropathic pain is caused by damage or dysfunction in the nervous system itself, rather than external injury. It typically feels like burning, electric shocks, or extreme sensitivity to touch. It requires specific nerve-calming medications because regular painkillers do not work on it.

Yes, nerve pain can be incredibly tricky and feel like shooting or burning sensations. Once your doctor prescribes the right treatment, light exercises and daily stretching can help improve blood circulation and soothe the nerves. Just don't push yourself too hard.

Look, if you are feeling constant burning, tingling, or pin-prick sensations, it is likely neuropathic pain. Normal pain sprays or balms won't fix this. Go see a neurologist directly instead of waiting around or experimenting with home remedies.

My daughter had a post-viral nerve issue that caused burning pain in her hands. The doctor explained it was neuropathic pain and put her on specific B-complex vitamins and nerve therapy. Please consult a specialist to find the exact root cause of your pain.

I just recovered from severe sciatica which had terrible neuropathic pain down my leg. It felt like hot electric shocks and was worst at night. Finding the right medication from my doctor and doing specific nerve-gliding exercises made all the difference.
