Is nausea and vomiting a symptom of covid?

My colleague at work tested positive for COVID, and he said he had a lot of nausea and vomiting along with the fever. I thought COVID mostly had breathing issues. Is nausea and vomiting also a common symptom of it?

I got so paranoid when my stomach felt upset during the second wave because everyone was talking about gastrointestinal symptoms. It turns out that nausea and vomiting can indeed be signs of Covid for some people, even without a high fever. Please do a self-test at home or talk to a doctor to be sure.

Yes, many people experienced gut issues like vomiting instead of respiratory ones with certain variants. If you test positive, please rest completely and avoid any strenuous workouts or runs until your body recovered. Once your doctor clears you, you can start with basic home mobility work.

Actually, I was reading an article yesterday about how the virus affects the gut lining, causing nausea, loose motions, or vomiting in quite a few patients. It is surprisingly common and often gets mistaken for regular food poisoning. Best to isolate for a couple of days and monitor your oxygen levels too.

I totally get it, dealing with nausea is absolutely exhausting and makes you feel so weak. When my family had Covid, my mother suffered mostly from severe vomiting and couldn't keep any food down. Please keep sipping ORS or coconut water in small breaks to prevent your body from dehydrating.

I had these exact GI symptoms when I tested positive back in 2022, with zero cough. My doctor put me on specific anti-emetic medications to stop the vomiting first so I could digest my food. Stick to very light khichdi, avoid oily dairy items completely, and get a RT-PCR test done.
