Is mupirocin good for eczema?

My son has really sensitive skin and gets eczema quite badly sometimes. A relative mentioned mupirocin, but I want to be sure before I ask the doctor. Is mupirocin considered good for treating eczema?

Yes, I agree with the others. Mupirocin is an antibiotic, so it only works if your eczema has a bacterial infection, not for the eczema itself.

I get so worried about applying the wrong cream on damaged skin! Since Mupirocin is an antibiotic, using it unnecessarily might cause antibiotic resistance. Please talk to a doctor before putting it on your eczema.

I checked my health database app and Mupirocin is classified as a topical antibiotic. It won't treat the underlying eczema inflammation, so you will need a proper dermatologist's prescription for a steroid or barrier repair cream.

Mupirocin is formulated strictly for bacterial skin infections like impetigo. Eczema is an atopic inflammatory condition, which requires emollients or topical corticosteroids, so a dermatologist's assessment is highly recommended.

My eczema feels like a never-ending battle with my own skin. Don't waste your time applying antibiotic creams like Mupirocin unless you've scratched it raw and got an infection; it won't stop the itching at all!
