Is mupirocin for eczema?

I have really bad eczema patches that flare up often, especially on my hands. My friend told me about mupirocin cream, but I'm not sure if it's specifically for eczema. Can it be used for this condition?

Mupirocin is an antibiotic ointment, so it won't cure eczema itself. It is only prescribed if your eczema patches have got a secondary bacterial infection from scratching. Don't use it as a regular moisturizer.

Hey, don't just apply Mupirocin blindly. Eczema is an inflammatory condition, while Mupirocin kills bacteria. If you have open wounds or yellow crusting on your eczema, then a doctor might recommend it, but please show it to a dermatologist first.

Actually eczema ke liye doctors moisturizers aur steroids dete hain, ho na. Mupirocin toh antibiotic hai, toh jab skin pe scratch karne se infection hota hai tabhi kaam aata hai. Doctor ko pooch kar hi use karo.

I know how frustrating the constant eczema itching is, it makes you want to apply anything to make it stop. But Mupirocin didn't help my flare-ups unless they were infected. Getting a proper steroid or non-steroidal cream from my dermatologist was the only thing that gave real relief.

In my experience, my doctor only prescribed Mupirocin when my eczema got raw and infected from constant scratching. For the actual redness and itching of eczema, he gave me a completely different anti-inflammatory cream.

Don't stress too much about the dry patches! Mupirocin is basically for bacterial infections, not the actual eczema rash. Just stick to a heavy fragrance-free moisturizer for now and check with your doc when you can.
