Is multi grain bread good for diabetics?

My father is diabetic, and we're always looking for healthier alternatives for his diet. We often eat bread, and I've started buying multi-grain bread for the family. Is multi-grain bread actually a good choice for diabetics?

Honestly, check the back of the packet before buying. Sometimes 'multigrain' bread is just regular white bread with some seeds thrown on top, which will still spike your sugar. Look for high fiber content!

I am also trying to understand diabetes diets for my father. Is multigrain bread really better than whole wheat brown bread, or do they both affect blood sugar levels in the same way?

With my PCOS, I have insulin resistance similar to diabetes, so I have to watch bread carefully. Multigrain can still cause a spike if it's processed, so I usually stick to brands with very low net carbs and high fiber.

In our time, we ate fresh ragi or jowar rotis instead of these modern breads. If you must eat bread, multigrain is okay, but homemade multi-grain rotis are much healthier and safer for your sugar levels.

Yes, it is definitely better than white bread, ho na. But sometimes these brands add sugar or malt for taste, which is bad for diabetes. Better to check the nutritional table at the back.

My mom is diabetic and we switched her to multigrain bread, but we always monitor her sugar after she eats it. Some brands add caramel color and maida, so we have to be really careful about which brand we pick.

I managed to bring my HbA1c down recently, and bread was a big part of the struggle. Multigrain is okay if the first ingredient listed is actual whole grain and not refined flour, but portion control is still key.

It can be good because of the extra fiber from the different seeds, which slows down glucose absorption. Just make sure you pair it with a good protein source like eggs or paneer to blunt any potential insulin spike.
