Is mucinex bad for your liver?

My husband has a bad cold and wants to take Mucinex, but he also takes some other medications. I'm worried about his liver, as he had some issues in the past. Is Mucinex bad for your liver if taken regularly?

Generally it is not bad for the liver, but if you have existing liver issues, you must consult your doctor before taking any over-the-counter medicine. Always get a liver function test done if you are unsure.

I just recovered from a bad chest congestion and used Mucinex. My doctor told me the main ingredient is safe for the liver, unlike high doses of paracetamol, so you don't need to worry.

Mucinex is safe for the liver at normal doses. I always check with my physician before taking anything new because of my BP medications, and I suggest you do the same.

Nah bro, it's safe. It just thins your mucus, it doesn't mess with your liver unless you are drinking bottles of it. Just take it as prescribed and you'll be fine.

I've been taking it for a cold but I constantly worry about drug side effects on my organs. Has anyone else felt anxious about liver damage from basic syrups?
