Is mounjaro approved for sleep apnea?

My father has struggled with sleep apnea for years, and it's really affecting his health. I heard about a medication called Mounjaro. Has Mounjaro been approved for treating sleep apnea?

My husband has severe snoring and sleep apnea, so I keep checking these things. Mounjaro isn't directly approved just for sleep apnea, but since it helps with major weight loss, it can indirectly improve breathing during sleep. Definitely check with a pulmonologist first.

Wait, I didn't know an injection could help with sleep apnea! I thought you only used those heavy CPAP masks for it. I think Mounjaro is mainly for diabetes and weight, but maybe losing weight helps with the snoring?

Actually, recent studies show it really helps reduce those sleep pauses by helping with weight loss! But it's still a prescription medicine, so a doctor's green light is a must. Sleep tight!

Don't worry too much. Recently, there have been clinical trials showing Mounjaro helps with obstructive sleep apnea by reducing weight around the neck, but it's best to let a specialist decide if this is the right treatment path for your specific case.

The FDA is currently reviewing clinical data for Mounjaro's use in obstructive sleep apnea because the weight loss it induces significantly clears airways. However, as of now, its primary approvals are for diabetes and weight management. Consult a sleep specialist before making decisions.
