Is milk thistle good for diabetes?

My blood sugar levels have been a bit high lately, and my neighbour suggested trying milk thistle. I wanted to know if it's actually helpful for diabetes or just a fad.

Oh, milk thistle is gaining so much popularity! ✨ Some studies suggest it might help with insulin resistance, which is great for diabetes management. But remember, it's a supplement, not a replacement for your regular meds. Always talk to your doc first! 😊

At Apollo, where I usually consult, they always stress that herbal supplements like milk thistle need to be vetted by a doctor, especially for chronic conditions like diabetes. While there's some research, it's not a substitute for prescribed medication. Ask your specialist for a clear answer before you start anything new.

Please be very, very careful with supplements when you have diabetes. I had some complications because I tried to self-medicate with something similar, thinking it would help. Always discuss with your doctor. They need to know everything you are taking to avoid interactions with your existing medicines.

I looked into milk thistle for my diabetes a while back. My doctor said that while it's good for liver support, its direct impact on blood sugar isn't fully proven for everyone. She advised sticking to my meds and diet, and if I wanted to try it, to do so only under medical supervision. Don't replace your medicines with it.

It's so natural to look for different ways to manage diabetes, the anxiety can be intense. I know the feeling of hoping for a miracle supplement. While milk thistle is often talked about, please don't let it replace your prescribed treatment. Your doctor is the best person to guide you on supplements.
