Is milk good for acidity?

I often get acidity after eating spicy food. My neighbour told me that drinking a glass of cold milk can help settle it. Is milk really good for acidity, or should I avoid it?

It's a temporary fix, not a cure. Milk can soothe acidity initially because of its calcium content, but for some, the fat and protein can actually stimulate more acid production later. So, it really depends on the person. Better to find the root cause.

For acidity, milk can be tricky. While it might give relief for a bit, I've heard from my doctor that for some, especially if it's full-fat milk, it can worsen it later. Plus, if you have diabetes, adding sugar to milk for relief isn't an option. Better to stick to plain water or consult a doc.

Based on my understanding from consultations at a good hospital, milk provides temporary relief but can stimulate acid production later due to its fat and protein content. It's not a universal remedy. For persistent acidity, you must consult a gastroenterologist to get a proper diagnosis and treatment plan.

Yaar, some people swear by it, like ek glass cold milk for instant relief. But honestly, for others, it can actually make it worse after some time. It's hit or miss, depends on your body type, I guess. Don't rely on it too much.

Acidity can be so uncomfortable, I totally understand the struggle to find relief. Sometimes milk helps, sometimes it doesn't. I used to feel so frustrated. What really helped me was identifying trigger foods and managing stress. Don't feel bad if it's not working for you.
