Is masturbating bad for mental health?

I've heard different things about this topic, and I'm not sure what to believe. Some people say it's bad for mental health, others say it's normal. Is masturbating actually bad for mental health in any way?

I totally get why you'd ask this, there's so much societal baggage around it. But from a mental health perspective, it's actually seen as a healthy way to understand your body and release tension. It only becomes an issue if it starts interfering with your daily life or relationships.

See, everything in moderation is key, just like with food or exercise. When you engage in anything mindfully, with self-awareness, it can bring a sense of peace. If it helps you relax and you don't feel guilt, then it's not harmful. Focus on your inner peace.

Nah, it's not bad for mental health. In fact, for many, it can be a stress reliever and totally normal. It's only if it becomes excessive or causes guilt that it might impact you. Don't overthink it, just be mindful.

From what I've understood, it's not harmful for mental health. In fact, anything that helps relieve stress, if done in a balanced way, is often good. Just like how managing my BP needs a balanced lifestyle and regular checkups. No need to stress about this if it's not causing issues in your life.

Generally speaking, masturbation is a healthy and natural human behavior. It can help reduce stress, improve sleep, and is a form of self-care. It's only when it becomes compulsive or causes distress that it might indicate an underlying mental health concern. So no, not inherently bad.

This is one of those things I also used to worry about a lot because of all the myths. But mentally, it's considered normal and can even be beneficial for stress relief and sleep. The main thing is to avoid shame or secrecy that society sometimes imposes, because that's what's actually bad for mental health.

Bad for mental health? Beta, at my age, if it gives me a few minutes of peace and quiet, I'll take it! Honestly, it's normal. If you're feeling guilty about it, that's the mental health part you need to address, not the act itself.
