Is manioc good for diabetics?

My husband has diabetes, and we are always looking for healthy alternatives for food. My relative suggested manioc, also known as tapioca. Is manioc good for diabetics, or should we avoid it because of its starch content?

Manioc, or tapioca, is quite starchy and can be high in carbohydrates. For diabetics, carb intake directly affects blood sugar levels. So, before including it in your diet, it's absolutely essential to consult your doctor or a registered dietitian. They can advise you on safe portion sizes, if any, for your specific condition.

Honestly, I'm not super familiar with manioc for diabetics. But generally, anything starchy tends to have a higher glycemic index, so it can spike blood sugar. If you're diabetic, it's always safest to ask your doctor or a nutritionist. They can give you a clear answer and how to incorporate it, if at all, into your diet.

As a diabetic, I was advised to be very careful with starchy vegetables like potatoes, and manioc falls into that category. It has a high carb content. I personally avoid it or have a tiny, tiny portion very rarely, and always check my sugar levels afterward. It's not generally considered 'good' for managing blood sugar.

Manioc? I know it as tapioca. Does it have a high glycemic index then? I'm just learning about managing sugar levels, so this is interesting. Should I avoid it completely if I'm pre-diabetic?
