Is malaria a pathogen?

I heard a health official talking on TV about 'pathogens' that cause various illnesses, and they mentioned mosquitoes. I'm wondering, is malaria a pathogen itself, or does something else cause it?

Oh, malaria! Ugh, that's definitely a buzzkill for any food cravings, right? I remember once when I was down with something similar, all I wanted was khichdi. Hope you're feeling okay!

Oh, is it? I always thought it was more about mosquito bites, didn't think about the pathogen part specifically. Is it something that spreads easily between people once someone has it? Makes me a bit worried, to be honest.

Haan, it is. Malaria is very serious, so please don't take it lightly. I remember when my neighbour had it, she was so weak. Make sure you get proper medical attention and follow what the doctor says, no shortcuts with this one.

Yes, malaria is caused by a pathogen, a parasite. Don't go looking for home remedies online for this. It's a serious illness. Please consult a doctor for proper diagnosis and treatment, that's crucial.

My doctor explained this recently. Malaria is indeed caused by a pathogen, specifically a group of single-celled parasites called Plasmodium. They enter your bloodstream via mosquito bite. It's not a virus or bacteria.

Straight up, yes. Malaria is caused by a parasite, which is a type of pathogen. It's transmitted by mosquitoes. Need to be careful with it.
