Is magnesium oxide good for sleep?

I'm looking for something natural to help me sleep better, and I saw magnesium oxide mentioned. Is magnesium oxide good for sleep, or should I look into other forms of magnesium?

For sleep, many types of magnesium are discussed. Magnesium oxide is one, but from what I recall and my doctor mentioned, it's not the best form for absorption, especially for sleep. It's often used more for constipation, if you know what I mean. For better sleep support, other forms like glycinate or citrate are usually recommended. Always verify with your physician.

When you're busy, good sleep is non-negotiable. Magnesium generally helps, but for sleep specifically, magnesium oxide isn't typically the go-to form. It has low bioavailability, meaning your body doesn't absorb much of it, and it can cause a laxative effect. If you're serious about improving sleep with magnesium, ask your doctor about forms like magnesium glycinate or L-threonate. Don't waste time on less effective options.

That's an interesting specific form! I've been researching magnesium for sleep too. From what I've read, magnesium oxide has a pretty low absorption rate, so it's not usually the top recommendation for its systemic benefits like calming the nervous system for sleep. It's more often used as an antacid or laxative. I think other forms might be more effective for sleep. Always worth checking with a doc though!

Magnesium oxide is less absorbed than other forms, so generally not the best for sleep. Consult a doctor for better options.

I've tried so many things for sleep, and different types of magnesium too! Magnesium oxide, honestly, wasn't the best for my sleep. It mostly just helped with digestion, if you catch my drift. For sleep, I found forms like magnesium glycinate much more effective because they're better absorbed for relaxation. It's practical to know the differences, and a doctor can confirm what's best for you.

Hi, I'm new to these specific types of magnesium. I always thought magnesium was just magnesium. Is magnesium oxide different from other types, like does it have side effects or absorb differently, which might make it less good for sleep?
