Is lung cancer fatal?

A close family friend was recently diagnosed with lung cancer, and we're all very upset and worried for him. I know it's a serious illness, but I wanted to understand better. Is lung cancer always fatal, or do people manage to recover?

It is such a heavy and painful thing to even think about, and my heart goes out to you if you are dealing with this fear. It can be fatal in advanced stages, which is why the emotional toll on the family is so huge. Just try to support each other and take it one day at a time.

It can be fatal, yes, but not always. My neighbor got diagnosed at Stage 1, got a lobectomy surgery, and now he is absolutely cancer-free and goes to work every day. It's all about finding it before it spreads.

It has a high mortality rate if left untreated, but many patients survive and recover. If the doctor permits, light walking and breathing exercises can help keep the lung capacity up during the recovery phase. Don't lose hope, physical activity helps the mind stay strong too.

It is a severe and often life-threatening disease that needs intense clinical treatment. Along with that, maintaining a clean, antioxidant-rich vegetarian diet helps the patient tolerate the heavy chemotherapy sessions better. But diet alone cannot cure this, medical intervention is must.

While it is a high-risk disease, modern targeted therapies have improved survival rates significantly over the last decade. You can track patient vitals like SpO2 and daily activity levels on smart apps to monitor progress during treatment. Keep in touch with an oncologist.

It can indeed take a person's life if it is not caught in time, my child. While modern doctors must do the main treatment, we can support the patient's breathing with simple steam and turmeric milk to keep their immunity up. Have courage and consult a good doctor.

I am no medical expert so I won't give any advice on the disease itself. I can only share that my colleague was diagnosed four years ago and with continuous therapy, he is still with us and living quite comfortably. It really varies from person to person.
