Is lung cancer deadly?

My older brother is very ill with lung cancer, and his condition seems to be getting worse despite treatment. My family is really struggling with this. Is lung cancer generally considered a deadly disease, or are there good chances of survival for some?

It can be extremely dangerous if diagnosed at late stages, but it is not an automatic death sentence anymore. The survival rates have drastically improved thanks to targeted therapies. It all depends on the stage and the patient's general health when they start therapy.

My uncle had a spot on his lung that we caught early during a routine scan last year. He had surgery and is totally fine and active now, so don't think it is always fatal. It depends completely on how fast you get to the hospital.

While it is historically one of the more aggressive cancers, our family oncologist explained that new immunotherapies are changing the outcomes completely. The key is genetic mutation testing of the tumor which helps doctors target it specifically. Don't go by old statistics on Google.

Hey, please don't stress too much right now, hearing the word cancer is scary but staying calm is half the battle. Just support your loved one and make sure you get a second opinion from a good cancer institute. Things are much more manageable now than they used to be.

It is a serious illness, no doubt, but the practical thing is to get health insurance in order and go to a reputed government hospital like Tata Memorial or AIIMS where you get the best treatment at low costs. Getting panicked won't solve anything, proper step-by-step action will.

Answering this at 3 AM because my sleep cycle is totally ruined by doom-scrolling health articles. Honestly, yes it's scary, but googling it will only make you feel like you have 2 days left. Go sleep and let the doctors do their job.

In my long life, I have seen medical science progress immensely. Thirty years ago, a lung diagnosis was considered the end, but today I see my own friends recovering and going for morning walks. Have faith in God and the doctors, things can be managed.

It can be fatal if ignored, so time is of the essence. Skip the home remedies for this and directly book an appointment with a senior pulmonologist or oncologist. Getting diagnostic tests done fast is the only real way to save a life.

We treated my uncle at a top hospital here and the doctors explained everything about staging and survival so clearly. Instead of getting scared by general statistics, ask your doctor about the specific sub-type of the cancer. Every case is totally different.

I know exactly how your mind must be racing with the worst possible thoughts right now, it is terrifying. But please remember that stats online are often outdated. Many people are living long, quality lives even with active treatment today.

My grandmother used to say a clean mind and good simple food helps the body fight any poison. But for lung issues, we must strictly trust the modern oncologists at places like Adyar Cancer Institute. They have the proper technology to treat this dangerous disease.

I tried all kinds of herbal kaadhas and steam for my brother's chest congestion before we realized it was a serious tumor. Home remedies are good for minor colds, but for something as serious as lung cancer, only hospital therapy can save a life. Please don't delay proper treatment.

I made the mistake of ignoring my father's persistent dry cough for six months thinking it was just pollution, and it turned out to be late-stage. Please don't repeat my mistake. If someone has a cough that won't go away, get a chest CT scan done immediately.

I totally get it, just the thought of this disease makes your heart sink and brings so much fear. Please know that you are not alone in this anxiety. There are so many survivors today who fought it successfully, so keep your hopes high.

I have seen many families deal with this over the years in our colony. Yes, it is a tough disease, but those who started medical treatment early and maintained a positive home environment did very well. Avoid checking every symptom online, it only scares you more.
