Is low potassium a sign of kidney failure?

My doctor told me my potassium levels are a bit low, and I'm supposed to follow up. I'm wondering if low potassium could be related to my kidneys. Is low potassium a sign of kidney failure or kidney problems?

Arre nahi yaar, kidney failure mein toh potassium ulta high ho jata hai, haan. Low potassium toh dehydration ya medicine ki wajah se hota hai. Itna bada darr mat paalo na.

Actually, kidney issues usually cause high potassium because kidneys can't filter it out. Low potassium is more related to diet or loose motions. Drink some coconut water to balance it.

I had low potassium during a bad bout of food poisoning last year. My doctor just gave me some coconut water and electral, and I was fine. It is definitely not kidney failure.

If you are taking diabetes or BP pills, they can affect your potassium levels. Please show your prescription to your doctor instead of worrying about kidney failure.

Babu, don't worry. Eat a banana daily and drink plenty of water. If you feel very weak, go to the government doctor and get a simple blood checkup done.

With my chronic health issues, I have learned that kidney functions are checked via Creatinine and BUN tests, not just potassium. Get a proper kidney function test done to be absolutely sure.
