Is low carb good for diabetics?

My father is diabetic, and a friend suggested he try a low-carb diet to manage his condition better. Is a low-carb diet actually good for diabetics, or could it have negative effects?

Yes, reducing rice and maida really helps in controlling sugar levels. Just take small steps and don't stress yourself too much.

See, completely stopping carbs is very difficult for us Indians. Instead of skipping roti, just reduce the number of rotis and increase the portion of dal and green vegetables in your plate. It's very practical.

Be careful with sudden diet changes. My husband tried a very strict zero-carb diet and his sugar levels fluctuated badly, causing extreme weakness. Please ask a certified dietician before making major changes.

I tried methi water, jamun powder and everything else, but cutting down white rice worked best for my sugar. Try eating oats or daliya instead of heavy carbs, it really helps the body.

Managing insulin resistance is so tough. Low carb definitely helped me manage my PCOS and sugar spikes, but what works for one might not work for all. Go slow and see how your body reacts.

At this age, doctors want me to eat grass and leave my favorite parathas. Low carb is good, yes, but living without potatoes is a real test of patience. Try to find a balance or you'll get cranky!

I totally get it, leaving rice and rotis feels like we have nothing left to eat. But even reducing them slightly and adding more salad can show amazing improvements in your daily energy levels.

A low-carb diet can be highly beneficial, but diabetic patients are often on medications that might need dose adjustments if they cut carbs. Please check with your doctor before altering your diet.
