Is liver low in calories?

I'm counting calories to manage my weight and looking for nutrient-dense foods that aren't too high in calories. Someone mentioned liver. Is liver low in calories? Hoping to add it if it fits my diet plan.

Honestly, I was searching for the same thing last month because I wanted something high protein but light. Liver is actually pretty low in calories compared to other red meats, and it is super filling. Just don't cook it with too much oil or butter, otherwise the whole point of a low-cal meal is gone, na!

My teenager was advised to eat liver because of low iron levels, and I was also worried about the heavy calorie load. But the nutritionist told us it is very dense in vitamins while being quite moderate in calories. I just boil it with some salt and turmeric first and then light fry it with minimal oil so it stays healthy for him.

Are you also trying to plan a strict diet for weight issues? I get so stressed out calculating calories for organ meats, and sometimes I wonder if the fat content is actually higher than what google says. Has anyone else felt bloated or gained weight after adding liver to their weekly meals, or is it just my anxiety?

Please be very careful before making liver a regular part of your diet just for the low calories. I had some underlying liver and cholesterol issues and eating too much organ meat made my blood reports go haywire. It is always better to get your routine blood tests done and ask your doc if liver is safe for your specific body type.

Yes, liver is relatively low in calories and incredibly nutrient-dense, which is why many fitness folks love it. However, because it contains a very high concentration of Vitamin A and cholesterol, you should not eat it every single day. Having it once a week is more than enough to get the benefits without overdoing it.

I recently visited my dietician at Max Hospital for a lifestyle plan and asked about liver. They told me that while the raw calorie count is low, the way we prepare it in Indian kitchens with heavy masala and ghee changes everything. Better to ask a qualified dietician about how to fit it into your specific daily calorie budget.

Look, purely from a nutritional standpoint, 100 grams of chicken liver has only around 110-120 calories, which is amazing. But remember it has high purine levels, so if you have high uric acid or gout issues, please avoid it. Otherwise, it is a great, healthy option for most healthy people.

Calorie count is decent, but honestly, mutton liver can be a bit expensive and hard to find fresh daily. If you want low-calorie protein under a budget, simple chicken liver is cheaper and cooks very fast. Just get it fresh from your local butcher, wash it nicely, and make a simple dry tawa fry at home.
