Is liver failure painful?

My mother is going through a very tough time with advanced liver problems. She seems to be in a lot of discomfort. I'm wondering if liver failure is typically painful for the person experiencing it.

My grandfather went through liver issues and he didn't feel sharp pain in the liver itself, but there was a lot of discomfort, bloating, and weakness. If you are noticing major symptoms, definitely get it checked out directly.

I used to panic thinking any dull ache in my side meant liver failure. But my doctor reassured me that the liver doesn't have pain receptors, so the failure itself isn't a sharp pain, just general swelling and fatigue. You can relax and just get a routine checkup.

I always get so anxious reading about these things and worry if a small stomach ache is something dangerous. Usually, it is just mild discomfort or bloating rather than sharp pain, but please get a doctor's opinion to ease your mind.

Don't listen to random people online telling you how it feels. Symptoms vary wildly from person to person, and some feel no pain at all until it is late. Only a medical professional can run proper tests and tell you what is happening.

In my family member's case, they experienced extreme nausea, fatigue, and fluid build-up in the abdomen which was very uncomfortable, rather than direct liver pain. It is best to ask their treating doctor for details.

Often, the body feels heavy and tired rather than in sharp pain. Keep your mind calm, stay positive, and ensure they are getting gentle, professional medical care during this time.
