Is latent tb contagious?

My colleague was diagnosed with latent TB and now I'm a bit concerned. We work in close proximity. Is latent TB contagious, or is there no risk of transmission?

Mere bhai, pareshan mat ho. Latent TB ka matlab hota hai ki bimari abhi so rahi hai aapke andar. Yeh bilkul nahi failti hai aur aap isse dusro ko bimar nahi kar sakte. Phir bhi doctor sahab se milkar dawai shuru kar lena taaki yeh kabhi aage jaake active na ho.

When my husband's test came positive for latent TB, we immediately went to a specialist at a reputed hospital to get correct information. The specialist clearly told us that latent TB is non-contagious because the bacteria is inactive. I highly recommend visiting a good pulmonologist who can explain the preventive treatment process to you.

Good news for you! Latent TB is absolutely not contagious, so you don't need to isolate yourself or worry about your family catching it. The bacteria is just sleeping inside the body right now. Just get it treated so it stays asleep forever!

I agree with others, it is not contagious at all. Just make sure to finish the full preventive course prescribed by your doctor so it doesn't turn active later.

Clinically speaking, latent TB means you have the infection but no active disease, meaning you cannot transmit it to anyone else. However, it can reactivate if your immunity drops, which is why doctors usually prescribe a short course of preventive medication. Speaking to a chest specialist is the best course of action to decide the next steps.

Please do not take any stage of TB lightly, even if it is not contagious right now. Years ago, I ignored mild warning signs and ended up suffering with active TB which took a long time to cure. Go get a proper clinical evaluation immediately and complete whatever course the doctor suggests.
