Is kidney pain in the front or back?

I've heard people talk about kidney pain, but I'm not sure where exactly it would be felt. Does kidney pain typically manifest in the front of the body, around the abdomen, or more in the back? Trying to pinpoint my discomfort.

It usually starts in the back, just under your ribs, but can definitely travel to the front groin area too! If you are feeling it, drink plenty of water and don't panic. Stay happy and get it checked by a doc!

I am feeling a strange radiating ache that starts in my back and seems to move to my lower stomach. Has anyone else experienced this kind of shifting pain? It is making me quite nervous and I am wondering if it is kidney-related.

My kidney stone pain started in my upper back and then literally shot straight down to my lower groin area. It is a crazy painful feeling that goes from back to front. If you have that, just head to a clinic instead of waiting around.

I just got treated for a kidney stone last week, so I remember this clearly. The pain was definitely in my back on the right side, but it felt like it was piercing right through to my front belly. Once the stone was cleared, both the back and front pain vanished completely.

According to the urologist we consulted, kidney pain typically originates in the flank area, which is the high back under the ribs. However, as a stone travels down the ureter, the pain radiates towards the lower abdomen and groin. So, it can technically be felt in both the back and the front.

Usually, the pain is felt deep in your upper back, on one side. I once tried drinking too many herbal juices thinking it was just a stomach ache in the front, but the real issue was a kidney stone radiating pain. Please check with a doctor before trying any home treatment.

When my mother had a severe kidney infection, the pain was mostly in her upper back and side, and she couldn't find any comfortable position to sit. She didn't feel much pain in her front stomach area, but it varies from person to person based on what I have seen.
