Is kidney disease contagious?

My neighbour has kidney disease, and sometimes her family comes to our house. My children play with theirs, so I'm a bit concerned. Is kidney disease contagious, or is it safe to be around someone who has it?

Absolutely not. I regularly visit a top hospital in Mumbai for my father's checkups, and the doctors there made it very clear that kidney issues do not spread from person to person. You can sit, eat, and live with them normally.

No beta, it does not spread like a cold or cough. My late husband had kidney issues for twenty years and we all lived together in the same house without any problem. Take care of your patient with a loving heart.

I remember feeling so isolated when I first got diagnosed, wondering if my family would catch something. It was such a relief when the doc explained it's completely non-contagious. Please don't worry about this at all.

Haha, thankfully no! With all the health issues I already have, if kidney disease was contagious, my wife would have thrown me out of the house by now. It's safe to be around anyone who has it.

No, it is not something that can spread. Keep your mind peaceful and focus on sending positive healing vibes to whoever is suffering. Blessings and good health to you.

It is scientifically impossible for kidney disease to be contagious. It is usually secondary to chronic illnesses like hypertension or diabetes. If you have concerns, speaking to a general physician can clarify all your doubts.

Relax, you can't catch kidney disease even if you hug the patient all day! It's not a viral fever. You are perfectly safe, so go help them out without any fear.

Oh, thank you for clarifying. I am very new to learning about kidney health. Does this mean even genetic kidney issues are not contagious? Sorry if this is a silly question.

I also panicked when my flatmate got diagnosed and started thinking if I should move out. Then I did some reading and realized it's mostly due to internal issues like sugar levels. It's 100% safe to stay with them.

Nahi yaar, bilkul nahi! Kidney disease koi infection thodi hai jo chhune se phel jayega. Haan, diabetes ya BP se zaroor hota hai, toh uski tension lo na ki iski.

As someone working in healthcare, I can assure you it is not contagious. You cannot catch it by sharing food, clothes, or using the same bathroom. You can care for your loved ones without any hesitation.

Not at all. Health trackers and medical articles always show that kidney disease is a chronic lifestyle condition, not an infectious disease. It is caused by internal factors, never by bacteria or viruses from others.
