Is kidney dialysis painful?

My father just started kidney dialysis, and he's really struggling with it. He says it's very uncomfortable and draining. Is kidney dialysis painful, or does he just need to get used to it?

Dekho yaar, seedhi baat hai. Dialysis starting mein thoda uncomfortable lagta hai jab needle lagti hai, par isme koi unbearable dard nahi hota. Bas patient ko thoda calm rehna padega aur hospital staff ki baat sunni hogi.

My cousin goes for dialysis twice a week. He says the process itself doesn't hurt much, but the real pain is the strict diet restriction! Not being able to drink much water or eat spicy chatpata food is what hurts him the most.

Actually, dialysis is not painful at all, yaar. Apart from that initial prick of the needle, you just sit on a chair and watch TV or sleep. My granddad was on it for years and he never complained of actual pain during the session.

I have been on dialysis for two years now. The needle insertion can sting a bit, but you can ask for a numbing cream if you are too scared. Just make sure you don't eat a very heavy meal right before your session to avoid feeling nauseous.

Don't listen to people who say it's torture. Talk to a dialysis technician or doctor directly to understand the procedure. There might be some mild muscle cramps or drop in blood pressure, but they manage it easily with medications.
