Is it painful to get cavities filled?

I've been told I have a few cavities that need to be filled, and I'm really nervous about the dentist. My friend said it's a terrible experience. Is it painful to get cavities filled, or is it manageable?

Actually, no, not really painful these days. With local anesthesia, you just feel a small pinch for the injection, and then mostly pressure, not pain. Similar to how you need to regularly follow up with your doctor for thyroid and tests, you should not delay getting cavities filled. Delaying will make it more painful later.

Honestly, the idea of it is scarier than the actual process! They give you an injection to numb it, which is just a tiny pinch. After that, you just feel some vibrations and pressure, but no pain. It's a quick fix, so don't be scared to get it done, it saves you from worse pain later.

I've had a few fills. It's more uncomfortable than painful. The numbing injection stings a bit, but after that, it's just the sensation of them working in your mouth. Think of it like getting a small cut cleaned up, necessary and brief. Better to do it than let it become a root canal problem.

I just got one filled last month! I was so nervous, but honestly, it was not painful at all. They numb the area completely, so you only feel some pressure and hear the drill, but no pain. The injection pinch is the worst part, and it's over in a second. Don't worry, just go get it done.
