Is it ok to take benadryl to sleep?

I've been having trouble sleeping lately, and a friend suggested taking Benadryl because it makes you drowsy. I don't have allergies, just insomnia. Is it okay to take Benadryl just to help me sleep?

Honestly, I tried Benadryl for sleep once when I had a bad cold, and it made me feel super groggy the next day. It's really for allergies, not regular sleep issues. Better to consult a doc, they might suggest something else like melatonin if it's a temporary thing.

My doctor actually warned against using antihistamines like Benadryl for sleep long-term. He said it can mess with natural sleep cycles. If you're struggling, maybe try some light exercise in the evening, like a brisk walk, if your doc says it's okay. Helps me a lot.

Dude, Benadryl will make you sleepy, for sure, but it's not a sleep medicine. I took it once for a really bad cough and passed out, but the next day I felt super hazy. It's not a good solution for regular sleep problems, better talk to someone about it.

I wouldn't recommend it, beta. My neighbour used to do that and then she got really dependent on it. For sleep, try warm milk before bed, or a bit of meditation. If it's serious, only then go to the doctor, they might have better solutions for you. Don't self-medicate.

No, absolutely not for regular sleep. Benadryl is an antihistamine for allergies. Using it as a sleep aid can have side effects and isn't addressing the root cause of your sleep issues. Please consult a doctor for proper diagnosis and treatment.

Haha, if it's for sleep, Benadryl will knock you out, but it's like using a sledgehammer to crack a nut. You'll feel like a zombie the next morning, trust me. I've been there. Better to find out why you can't sleep, instead of just trying to force it with meds not meant for that.
