Is it ok to sleep on your back while pregnant?

I'm pregnant and naturally prefer sleeping on my back. Everyone tells me it's not good, but I find it hard to get comfortable any other way. How bad is it really to sleep on your back when you're expecting?

Sleeping on your back especially in later pregnancy can affect blood flow, I've read. Doctors always advise against it. And with all the expenses for tests and scans, you want to make sure you're doing everything right to avoid any complications. So better to stick to side sleeping.

Oh, the joys of pregnancy! My wife used to struggle with this. We bought so many pillows trying to keep her on her side. Sleeping on your back, especially when the baby gets bigger, is generally a no-no. It can be uncomfortable for the mom and not good for blood flow. Try all the pillows you can!

Beta, hamare zamane mein bhi badi-bujurg kehte the ki seedhe mat so. Pet par dabav padta hai. Side karwat lekar sona hi theek hai. Apne sharir ka dhyan rakho, ghar pe doodh piyo aur aaram karo. Doctor ki baat bhi suno, woh toh modern hamesha accha hi batayenge.

When I was expecting my son, my gynaecologist strictly advised against sleeping on my back after the first trimester. The weight of the uterus can compress a major blood vessel. It's really important to try and sleep on your side, preferably the left. Use pillows to prop yourself up if you find yourself rolling over.

No, sleeping on your back is generally not recommended during pregnancy, especially later on. Side sleeping is better.

My elder sister was told by her doctor not to sleep on her back during her pregnancy, especially after a few months. She used a special pillow to keep her on her side. So I guess it's a definite no-go, dude.

While I usually prefer natural tips, for pregnancy, it's different. Sleeping on the back can indeed restrict blood flow. You can try putting a pillow under one side of your back to tilt yourself, that's a small home trick. But for anything serious, definitely see your gynaecologist, they know best for baby and you.
