Is it ok to sleep on right side during pregnancy?

I'm in my second trimester, and I usually sleep on my right side. My mother-in-law keeps saying I should only sleep on my left. Is it really bad to sleep on my right side while pregnant?

Generally, sleeping on your left side is recommended during pregnancy because it improves blood flow to the baby and uterus. The right side isn't strictly 'bad' but might not be as optimal. If you wake up on your right, don't panic, just gently shift. It's more about sustained positions.

Haan, I totally get this worry! During my pregnancy, I'd constantly shift. My doctor said that while left side is preferred, if you roll onto your right side for a bit, it's okay. The key is to try and start on your left and use pillows to support yourself to stay there. Don't stress if you accidentally move!

Sleeping on the left side is usually advised for pregnancy, but occasional right-side sleeping is generally not a major concern.

It's a common question for sure! 😊 While left side is generally preferred for good circulation to baby, don't stress if you end up on your right side for a bit. Your body will usually tell you if it's uncomfortable. Just try to go back to left! ✨

My pregnancy app actually has sleep position trackers, and it recommends side sleeping, especially left. It shows you the benefits for blood flow. But if you shift during the night, don't worry too much. It's about overall comfort and ensuring you get rest. Maybe use a pregnancy pillow to help stay on your left.

Oh my god, this is my constant worry! I try so hard to stay on my left, but sometimes I wake up on my right, and then I just panic. Has anyone else felt this way? Is it really that bad if it happens sometimes? It makes me so anxious!

At the hospital where I get my checkups, they always emphasize asking your specific doctor for personalized advice. While generally left side is preferred for pregnancy for optimal blood flow, your doctor knows your unique medical history. So, definitely have a clear conversation with them about your sleep positions.

I've read a lot about this because my sister is pregnant. Most articles say left is best because of a specific vein, but also that sleeping on your back or right for short periods isn't going to harm the baby. It's more about consistent, long-term positioning. It's a lot to keep track of for moms-to-be!
