Is it ok for newborns to sleep on their tummy?

My baby seems to sleep much better on her tummy, and my maasi told me her kids also slept that way. But the hospital nurses kept saying 'back to sleep'. Is it okay for newborns to sleep on their tummy?

Bete, chhote bachon ko toh peeth ke bal hi sulana chahiye. Pet ke bal nahi, bade log aise hi kehte hain. Unki saans ruk sakti hai na.

Just like how I manage my sugar levels very strictly, baby's sleep position also needs strict attention. Doctors always say 'back to sleep' for babies. It's a critical safety measure, don't take it lightly.

From a holistic perspective, allowing the breath to flow freely is important, and for a newborn, sleeping on the back supports this best. It’s about creating a safe and natural space for them to rest.

Always put trust in what's good for the little one. Doctors advise sleeping on the back for babies, and it's for their safety. Stay positive and follow the guidelines, all will be well.

No, absolutely not. Newborns should always sleep on their backs to reduce the risk of SIDS (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome). It's a very important safety rule, so please make sure your baby is always on their back for sleep.
