Is it ok for infant to sleep in swing?

My infant sometimes falls asleep in the swing chair. It seems so comfortable for them. But my mother says it's not good for their spine. Is it okay for an infant to sleep in a swing, or should I avoid it?

Oh, this is one of those questions that always made me anxious as a new mom! I know swings are tempting because they soothe babies. But I always worried if it was truly safe for long periods of sleep. Did anyone else feel this way? I've heard mixed things.

Look, for short naps under supervision, a swing can be okay, especially if it's a calm swing, not too upright. But for actual overnight sleep or unsupervised long naps, no. The baby needs to be on a firm, flat surface. Swings aren't designed for safe, prolonged sleep, they can make baby's head fall forward.

While a swing can comfort a crying baby, it's generally not recommended for extended sleep, especially overnight. The position can sometimes cause breathing difficulties if the baby's head slumps. It's better to get them used to a crib or bassinet. For soothing, gentle rocking by hand or a short time in a swing under direct watch is okay.

Ho na, sometimes swings help baby sleep, but for proper, long sleep, it's not ideal. The baby's head can slouch, and it's not a flat surface. My mausi always said crib is best. For short time, when you are watching, it's fine, but not for whole night.

Infant swings are primarily for soothing and supervised awake time, not for routine sleep. The incline and soft padding of swings can pose a suffocation risk and contribute to positional asphyxia, especially if an infant's head slumps forward. The safest sleep environment for an infant is always on their back, on a firm, flat surface, without loose bedding. Doctor's advice on this is very clear.
