Is it normal to have stomach pain after intercourse?

Sometimes after intercourse, I experience a dull ache in my lower abdomen that lasts for a few hours. It's not every time, but it happens enough to make me wonder. Is it normal to have stomach pain after intercourse?

Yes, mild deep cramping can sometimes happen due to muscle contractions, but you should track how often it occurs.

Hey, I have heard from my friends that this happens occasionally, especially if the position was a bit awkward or if there was too much deep pressure. Usually, a warm bath or just lying down for a bit makes it go away, but don't force yourself if it hurts.

With our busy schedules, we often ignore these small health issues, but pain after sex shouldn't be ignored if it's frequent. Book a quick online consult with a gynecologist over the weekend to rule out basic things like a UTI or pelvic inflammation. It takes 15 minutes and saves a lot of worry later.

I was actually researching this topic because my partner experienced it recently. From what I found, minor muscle fatigue or lack of lubrication can cause deep abdominal soreness. It seems quite common, but everyone suggests seeing a doctor if it becomes a regular thing.

My gynecologist explained that post-coital pain can happen due to uterine contractions triggered by orgasm, or from physical friction against the cervix. However, she emphasized that if the pain is sharp, persistent, or accompanied by unusual discharge or bleeding, it could point to cysts, fibroids, or pelvic inflammatory disease.
